Free To Be is a positive body image club for middle school students. Free To Be empowers students to reach their full potential by developing media literacy awareness, cultivating individual and group strengths, building resilience to social pressures that impact body image and nurturing a positive social environment.
Gardening Club

Intramural Athletics feature nine months of extracurricular excitement played upon Sedgwick Middle School’s field, course, court, gridiron, pitch, and weight room. Our activities are designed for maximum participation. Athletes engage in a wide-spectrum of co-ed team, advisory, and grade-level seasonal activities. This includes basketball, cross country, fitness center, flag football, matball, pool noodle hockey, soccer, tennis baseball, ultimate ball and advisory volleyball. These sports are available to students of varying skill levels ranging from beginner to MVPs. The program promotes physical activity, health and wellness, collaboration, fair play, leadership, school spirit, sportsmanship, teamwork and time management through casually competitive sports. Remember Wildcat Nation, you can’t spell ‘CAT STAR (or ULTRASMART!) without Intramural Athletics, so get in the game...let’s hear your ROAR!

Kids' Lit Quiz Club is for ALL students who love books and love to read. Students will play book trivia games each week to build their knowledge. We hope to have a “West Hartford Battle of the Books.” Students will be placed on teams based on their club participation.

Admission is by audition in September. The 6th grade select choir allows talented students the opportunity to participate musically outside of school time.
Robotics Club

Students will be building VEX and Seaperch (underwater) robots. The students will be competing against other robotics teams across the state, and potentially the country. The students learn how to design, build and program different types of robots with varying robotics programming software.
Step Team

Students on the Step Team learn and create exciting, synchronized and rhythmic step routines that are performed both at Sedgwick events and within the community. This activity teaches students the merits of teamwork, practice, perseverance and cooperative learning. It also provides them with the opportunity to display their creativity and refine their leadership skills. There is a Fall and Spring season and 1-2 school performances. Students are expected to commit to weekly practices.
TEA Club

True Equality Allies promotes kindness and acceptance at Sedgwick. It is a club that strives to provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ students to connect with each other while also raising awareness regarding LGBTQ+ issues. The club will also provide an opportunity for student feedback about school and community climate. Allies are strongly encouraged to participate as well.
