School Start Times:
Anne McKernan gave an update to the Rethinking School Start Times Committee. Below are some highlights and also a website link to much more information.

Year long study to delay school start times - mostly for high school

Committee responsible for researching topic and making a recommendation to the BOE

Health Benefits -

Research shows only positive benefits from kids getting more sleep.

Physical - less illnesses

Mental - benefits range from better moods to lower depression

No research show negative or neutral impact.

Academic Research - Varies by school. Schools with higher average test scores may have less of a academic benefit compared to schools with lower average scores.

Athletics - Some research indicates that there may be less injuries from delayed start times.

Potential vote could be this year. If passed, the new start time would go into effect for the 2019-2020 school year
